Beaufort Insider was contacted by a source that would like to remain anonymous with this screenshot and a claim that the X account belonged to Beaufort councilman and candidate for mayor Josh Scallate.
Upon further investigation, there were multiple posts that connected Josh Scallate to the Ace-of-Spades (@smokingaces204) account.
Josh Scallate’s X account, Ace-of-Spades (@smokingaces204), was created in 2013 and was most active between 2020 and 2022. A great deal of posts and comments are edgy and politically charged mixed in with posts about crypto-currency, business practices, and self-help. Around the time that Scallate was elected to his seat on Beaufort City Council the posts came to a halt.
Two years into his four year term as councilman, Scallate is currently challenging Mayor Phil Cromer for the mayor’s seat. On November 5, Beaufort residents will decide if Ace-of-Spades will lead Beaufort for the next four years.
