Dear Beaufort Insiders,
Beaufort Insider has decided to cancel the candidate forum that was planned for this Wednesday evening. We were looking forward to the forum as a public opportunity for all candidates to answer questions from our readers.
Unfortunately, Neil Lipsitz, Mitch Mitchell, and Josh Scallate have declined our invitation. We don’t feel that moving forward without them will accomplish the goal of open, honest dialogue from everyone that will be on the ballot.
I am disappointed that our local city politics has become so divisive that our candidates are not willing to participate. But I am most disappointed that our readers will not have their questions answered in an open forum format.
My hope moving forward is that city officials, elected and unelected, will learn to value a straightforward, honest media source covering their actions.

Too bad! Guess we know whom not to put our trust in. May have won over some voters.
When you have a candidate who is more comfortable sneak attacking his opponent than discussing the city’s issues, it shows their cowardness.
These types of intentional outrageous behaviors from our elected/unelected officials has created a slew of unaccountable corrupted privileged officials and or individuals. In Dec 2019, eighteen (18) county officers were reprimanded by their superior for breaking the ethnical codes of conduct as an officer, a public servant serving and protecting their communities. Then to undermine the rules of law, which were implemented specifically for and during roadside stops and arrests. I wonder how many adjudicated cases were recalled due to the officers over utilizing their privileges. The eighteen (18) identified officers were found guilty when engaged in a vehicle roadside stop, and wrongfully doing so they entered the stopped individuals (Driver) name and info into the NIC (National Identification Center) to gather anything or information on the subject person(s) to utilize and review any prior/past adjudicated cases to help them make decisions upon detaining/arresting the individual(s). Unfortunately, I will not call officials names out as we’ve witnessed in Beaufort’s city/county Leaders. When you make unwarranted decisions against the governed polices that indoctrinated the regulations, and rule of laws and orders we all must adhered to, and enforce. I can recall numerous times/many years of leaders with closed door discussions, proposals and planning including future acquisitions of city/county’s developments. There’s no appointed oversight committees, no watch dog or ciltizens of the communities expecting o be informed with awareness of ALL city/county leader’s final decisions that greatly impacts the county’s liquidity, and or solvency,. Any monetary values deserves transparency . They will continue to create grains & losses purposefully, yet no transparency., but still continue to benefit their districts, communities, and citizens within the county’s districts. Then to not abide by enforcing local/federal policies, and laws that governs the individual laws, orders and discipline within every citizens communities and peoples. We can recall recently when the DOJ (Dept. of Justice) tagged Beaufort County for their so-called redistricting of whole county. Go figure….”Election Year”, another coincidence….😁 The City/County have made some insignificant incompetent decisions, and very poor R & D investments and future acquisitions. We all tend to make some mistakes, being transparent solidifies the purposes. The City/County can ill afford to make any more privileged mistakes, disclosed or not. This is not an coincident or isolated incidents for no reasonable excuses. All these unfortunate acts allows them to be in a defensive mode. Distinctive leaders does not have transparency issues, especially when providing the communities the utmost pertinent Information. Very sad to see and being part witness or victim of such hideous and ridiculous mindsets. Just like all and everything that works their magic only during times of darkness will see the enlightened speartip of light…… When the individual or entity condons the many ill-fated decisions and faded personalities of someone who has more loyalty than integrity stands firmly by their colleagues negative attributes as it manifest profound corruptions to simply boils down to BHP (Bad Hiring Practices).
May God Bless America and my Dog eats Dog State of South Carolina.
Sincerely,
A Very Patriotic American 🇺🇸
I have no intention to vote for any of these 3. I felt that way before and after reading this article. What is it about local politics that makes this so prevalent? It is precisely because we DO NOT know them or their inclinations before they are elected.
Carrie – It’s ironic that you lament the divisive atmosphere of local politics when your website has done nothing but contribute to it.
